| 14344 | D2DF771A-A88F-4F6B-87F5-3A5DD0A56C9F | S956CB | Around the World in 80 Days | Jules Verne's popular 1873 adventure novel, "Around the World in Eighty Days," has inspired countless readers, as well as two motion pictures. The first of these, produced by Michael Todd and released in 1956, featured a score by Victor Young that would earn him his sole Oscar Award (awarded posthumously in 1957) for best motion picture score. This arrangement for concert band by Alfred Reed captures the magical essense of Young's original score. Reed's singular talent for band writing would lead to engagements as staff composer for NBC and ABC television from 1948-1953. | Concert Band | |

| 14350 | d2f6483f-9e39-11f0-a418-0022482c9682 | A270202 | Stabat Mater, P. 77 | While many works long believed to have been written by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1710-1736) were later discovered to be falsely attributed, his STABAT MATER, P. 77 is not among them as a manuscript in his hand still exists. Written in 1736 shortly before he succumbed to tuberculosis, he was commissioned to complete the sacred text describing Mary's suffering as she watches her son die on the Cross by confraternity in Naple called the Cavalieri della Vergine dei Dolori di San Luigi al Palazzo, who had also commissioned a STABAT MATER from Alessandro Scarlatti. After Pergolesi's death, his twelve-movement setting became one of his most celebrated sacred works, published more often than any other piece of music in the 18th century. Movements: 1. Stabat Mater dolorosa; 2. Cujus animam gementem; 3. O quam tristis et afflicta; 4. Quæ mœrebat et dolebat - Pro peccatis suæ gentis; 5. Quis est homo qui non fleret; 6. Vidit suum dulcem natum; 7. Eja Mater fons amoris; 8. Fac, ut ardeat cor meum (Fuga); 9. Sancta Mater, istud agas; 10. Fac ut portem Christi mortem; 11. Inflammatus et accensus; 12. Quando corpus morietur - Amen. Instrumentation: Org (in score): Str (2-2-2-1-1 in set): Soli SA: Women's Chorus. Edition by Gustav Schreck with Latin text also translated by Emmy Schreck. | 14351 | D2F6E21B-8273-4845-B786-628995C1F124 | X814053 | Water Songs | Water Songs is a group of six songs about water in various forms, from rain to the human brain. The poems range from the lyrical poetry of Katherine Barrett Swett, Emily Dickinson, and James Joyce to a comical verse by Shakespeare, a spiritual meditation by the Persian poet Rumi, and a thought-provoking list of water facts and statistics. Written especially for wonderful soprano Angel Blue after Bruce Adolphe had discovered she had been frequently already performing some of his other works (including "Valley Girl in Love" from his song cycle A Thousand Years of Love), Angel gave the world premiere on May 15, 2021 with Bryan Wagorn on piano in a concert offered by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. | Soprano and Piano | |
