He is one of the 19th century's most important composers and performers for the organ, counted together with other greats such as Gigout, Guilmant, and Widor. Saint-Saëns wrote this FANTAISIE No. 2, Op. 101 in D-flat Major for organ in 1895. Reprint edition.Organ Solo

57755477B247-4585-40B9-9112-9FCCE839821C50250173ConfluenceThis piece is the confluence of J.S. Bach and South America. A lively, Brazilian-influenced tune in C minor uses a chord progression, suggested by Bach, in jazz form. Confluence begins with a passionate cello solo and brief violin solo. All instrument groups (or student solos) have an opportunity to shine in the suggested solo section after the presentation of the tune, first by the violas.String Orchestra

5778547D2C77-9878-4A89-B018-DFF794499B1ESO148Waltz from Masquerade Suite (transcription)Masquerade was written in 1941 as incidental music for a play of the same name by Mikhail Lermontov, however the music is better known in the form of a five-movement suite, which Khachaturian extracted in 1944. The famous Waltz theme in particular gave Khachaturian much trouble in its creation. The composer later described his "strenuous search" for the appropriate style and melodic inspiration, when finally the second theme of his waltz came to him, which acted "like a magic link, allowing me to pull out the whole chain. The rest of the waltz came to me easily, with no trouble at all." This complete transcription by Lynne Latham for string orchestra is the first of its kind, perfect for more advanced ensembles. An easier, shorter arrangement is also available from the publisher.String Orchestra
