16909F69E20E4-A50F-4CC7-AA7D-1972BD374A00D103Vocal Connections Female CDBased in part on the “inner hearing,” concepts in Kodaly teaching methods, Vocal Connections is a classroom method designed to teach audiation and music reading in a carefully sequenced approach, and consists of the following components:

AUDIO LESSONS-there are 30 brief (35- 75 second) audio lessons which provide AURAL "immersion" in Major and minor tonalities and movable "do" solfege. Available treble voice CD (3770954), and bass voice CD (3770955).

TONAL GRIDS (3770929 – 5 pack) - audio lessons 5 - 30 are represented graphically on GRIDS. These grids represent a simple and useful transitional stage from the audio lessons to traditional notation.

MUSIC READING EXERCISES (3770930 - 5 pack) - the final step in VOCAL CONNECTIONS is the reading of TRADITIONAL NOTATION.

TEACHER’S KIT (3770928) Contains all the above material, with additional instruction regarding methods and lesson planning.

The waltz evokes breezy maritime charm and Strauss’s signature Viennese elegance. His brother Eduard conducted its premiere at the Musikverein on November 16, 1879. It occasionally features in Strauss anniversary concerts and recordings, appreciated for its lyrical appeal and evocative seaside spirit. While the fact that he never dated his manuscripts nor cataloged revisions makes it very difficult to catalog his works, scholars have created systems to at least categorize his output based on the stylistic characteristics of his music. This CONCERTO FOR CELLO No. 87 in A, GT 1.A28 (Canale 1.2.A.01) is among the select works Tartini did not write for violin, and the only known concerto for cello by Tartini, likely written for Antonio Vandini, the first cellist of the Chiesa del Santo (Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua) where Tartini was first violinist for many years. While the work is, overall, energetic, the solo cello part presents itself more discreetly and almost shyly at times, largely due to being written in the middle range of the instrument. 16919F6BD71D0-BA19-4847-9B40-53D6E7F2549DA541602Six German Dances, K. 571In 1787, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) succeeded Christoph Gluck as the chamber composer for Joseph II. One of his principal tasks was to write music for the dances and balls that took place in the Redoutensaal of the Imperial Palace in Vienna. In 1789, he composed his SIX GERMAN DANCES, K. 571, for that year’s carnival. The sixth dance features cymbals and tambourine, representing the Turkish musical style which was exploited as a form of Austrian patriotism during the Austro-Turkish War. 16920F6BDAAA9-8CA1-46CE-9027-F048BED1248BA935390Hary Janos Suite, IZK 26The Háry János Suite is derived from Zoltán Kodály's (1882-1967) 1926 comic opera. The opera tells the fantastical tale of the title character's imagination, from having the wife of Napoleon, Empress Marie Louise, fall in love with him, to his single-handedly defeating Napoleon’s army, to Háry's return home to Hungary on the realization that his happiness can only be found with his village sweetheart, Orzse. The suite, which premiered on March 3, 1927 in Barcelona with the Orquestra Pau Casals under Antal Fleischer, includes six movements depicting many of these outrageous stories from the opera: 1. Prelude. The Fairy Tale Begins, 2. Viennese Musical Clock, 3. Song, 4. The Battle and Defeat of Napoleon, 5. Intermezzo, and 6. Entrance of the Emperor and His Court.
