| 13485 | C576B693-5175-4DFB-8310-0E4DB5556139 | S201CB | Castle Gap | Castle Gap Pass, which is located west of Rankin, Texas between King and Castle Mountains, has a long history of being used as a busy crossroad for nomadic tribes of Indians, by marauding Comanches to raid northern Mexico, and by Spanish explorers and westard-moving pioneers. J. Clifton Williams was originally commissioned by the Rankin High School Band to right the march. This new edition of Castle Gap by Tommy J. Fry is a belated thank you from the editor to Mr. Williams for offering advice and encouragement to a very young and inexperienced composer, with the intention of introducing this fine march to the newest generation of band directors and their students. | Concert Band | |

Flutist Harvey Sollberger says: “Davidovsky’s music shows him as the creator of delicately jeweled, precise structures that function with no waste motion or superfluity–exemplified in Junctures in its economy (consider both its brevity and what is achieved within the ‘limitation’ of working with three treble instruments) as well as in its fineness of styling.” Recording originally released on Nonesuch HB-73028 (“20th Century Flute Music”) by Sollberger, Allen Blustine (cl) and Jeanne Benjamin (vn) | Flute, Clarinet, Violin | |

| 13489 | C5902171-55FE-4A46-B967-5020413D50F5 | SO190C | A Grand Affair | A Grand Affair is written in the timeless style of the classical tradition and is rich in melodic content and appealing rhythmic figures. Scored at a level 2, it is well-suited for developing orchestras. Parts are placed in the lower and more comfortable positions, allowing directors to focus on blend, intonation, and rhythmic accuracy. All sections are awarded interesting melodic material to perform as well as integral supportive parts. Moving parts are largely scale-based, placing them well within the capabilities of developing players. | String Orchestra | |

| 13496 | C5AA7E8D-39C6-4CE6-9E44-C8C51AF630AC | 52250973 | The Pleiades | The Pleiades are the seven daughters of the titans Atlas and Pleione in Greek mythology. They are turned into doves escaping to the sky, whirling and swirling to form the part of the constellation Taurus. This story inspired the 7/8 time signature and consistent rhythmic patterns that dominate this piece. The gentle swirling continues as the cellos take over the melody. The notes are not particularly difficult, but the rhythms may need some attention in rehearsal. | String Orchestra | |

"Siegfried’s Death and Funeral Music" (Trauermusik beim Tode Siegfrieds) depicts the tragic end to the heroic life of Siegfried. Stabbed in the back after betraying the Valkyrie Brunnhilde under the influence of a potion, he recalls his love for her with his last breath. A solemn march (Trauermarsch), weaving the Siegfried motif into its strains, follows his funeral journey back to the Gibichung hall.
