| 12607 | B869FFB5-2A23-4559-BDEC-9B781BF7BCDF | 20454456 | Dance-A-Jig | The tune is original, but based on the rhythm, meter and style of an Irish jig. However, it is more of a concert jig than one for dancing because of the ritards and a tempi, which also make it a more significant musical experience in the skill of ensemble playing. Keys are D and G major, and the meter is 6/8. There is plenty of activity for all five voices. It is scored for 2 altos, 2 tenors and baritone, but an optional 3rd alto part is included to replace the 1st tenor. The pitches not slurred should be lightly tongued, which is a challenge for the developing saxophone players. | Saxophone Quintet (AATTB; 3rd Asax part included to sub for TSax1) | |

| 12611 | B876398E-41CE-4B6D-A823-685D3D2D2431 | A817790 | Miroirs No. 2: Oiseaux Tristes | A five-movement suite originally written by Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) for solo piano, MIROIRS ("Mirrors") was written between 1904 and 1905, with each movement dedicated to a fellow member of the French avant-garde artist group Les Apaches. Ravel later orchestrated both the third movement called "Une barque sur l'océan" ("A Boat on the Ocean" - dedicated to Paul Sordes) and the fourth movement named "Alborada del gracioso" ("The Jester's Aubade" - dedicated to Michel-Dimitri Calvocoressi) himself. Ernesto Halffter later orchestrated the fifth movement ("La vallée des cloches" - "The Valley of the Bells" - dedicated to Maurice Delage), as did Percy Grainger, while Felix Günther scored movement two ("Oiseaux tristes" - "Sad Birds" - dedicated to Ricardo Viñes). Orchestrations of movement one ("Noctuelles" - "Moths" - dedicated to Léon-Paul Fargue) are more recent. This orchestration of "Oiseaux Triste" (Sad Birds) has been arranged by Felix Guenther and edited by Joseph Mady. Guenther has offered various options in instrumentation to permit flexibility for smaller ensembles. It remains popular today, with songs such as the "Habanera" and "Toreador Song" among the best known of all opera arias. The "Toreador Song" is the popular name for "Votre toast, je peux vous le rendre," sung by the bullfighter Escamillo in Act II, describing the act of bullfighting to a cheering crowd. | 1+Picc.2.2.2: 4.2.3.0: Timp.Perc(1): Str (4-4-3-3-3 in set): Solo Bar: Men's Chor | |

Lang, commander and conductor of the USAF Heritage of America Band at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, contacted the composer about the possibility of composing a work for his ensemble “dedicated to the men and women of the United States Air Force, especially during our current world situation.” The response was this spirited and patriotic sentiment. Since the mission of the Heritage of America Band is to promote our nation’s heritage and to support Air Force community relations through performances and recordings, this composition is intended to be an uplifting and spirited work that will reflect the courage and nobility of United States armed forces in the air. | Concert Band | |

The third of three settings of the Marian antiphon Regina coeli (Queen of Heaven), it remains the best-known setting of the Latin Regina Caeli for Eastertide Mass. Written for four soloists, choir, and orchestra, it is a one movement work in which the soloists alternate with the full chorus.
