Lang, commander and conductor of the USAF Heritage of America Band at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, contacted the composer about the possibility of composing a work for his ensemble “dedicated to the men and women of the United States Air Force, especially during our current world situation.” The response was this spirited and patriotic sentiment. Since the mission of the Heritage of America Band is to promote our nation’s heritage and to support Air Force community relations through performances and recordings, this composition is intended to be an uplifting and spirited work that will reflect the courage and nobility of United States armed forces in the air. |
