Regarded as the finest Spanish organist of his generation, his works were regrettably long neglected, despite constituting a peak of organ literature in Spain and an exceptional bridge between the Renaissance and the Baroque, although interest continues to grow. His compositions, 69 works all for organ and progressively more difficult to suggest a pedagogical purpose, were published in 1626 in a single volume under the title Libro de tientos y discursos de música practica, y theorica de organo, intitulado Facultad organica. This edition, transcribed and edited by Santiago Kastner, has been released in eight volumes. | Organ

The pair embody a striking programmatic contrast between the jazzy rhythms of "Who'll that be?" and the lush, lyric flow of "Beautiful you are." | Voice
| 4879 | 467068BC-E2F8-42AE-B445-BA8CA54DF922 | SC278 | Missa Brevis | This piece was composed especially for the Cornell University Glee Club, and is dedicated to St. Maximilianis Kolbe, a Polish monk who was martyred during the Second World War. The initial inspiration for the work was sketched by the composer during a 1983 visit to the monastery near Warsaw where St. Maximilian had lived and worked and from which he was arrested by the Nazis. This work is thus a prayer, and act of rememberance and a statement of faith; the inscription on the score, drawn from the works of Kierkegaard, reads: "The tyrant dies and his rule is over; the martyr dies and his rule begins." This Missa Brevis was awarded the Medley P. Ray Award, established to recognize outstanding major compositions for male chorus. | Tbb | |
