482545869110-6F10-42BA-B4AA-6CCDD65DA0AAM263791Six Studies in English Folk Song for Double Bass and PianoOriginally written in 1926 for cellist May Mukle with piano accompaniment, this collection follows the same format for each of the six English folk songs: presentation of the tune in the solo line, followed by a full iteration of the folk song in the piano with an ornamented solo line. Writing that his aim in setting the songs was for them to be "treated with love," Williams also transcribed these songs for violin, viola, and clarinet (all three available from the publisher along with the cello version) among other instruments. This version for double bass and piano has been edited by Lucas Drew. The first five songs in the collection are slow and quiet while the sixth, in contrast, is marked Allegro Vivace. Songs: I. Lovely on the Water, II. Spurn Point, III. Van Dieman's Land, IV. The Lady and the Dragon, V. She Borrowed Some of Her Mother's Gold, VI. As I walked over London Bridge.Double Bass and Piano

483545983FE1-1355-4E7C-B913-AC9DFC7AF221SO165CTwelve Days of ChristmasTwelve Days of Christmas is a time-honored holiday favorite, equally popular with young and old. This arrangement for developing orchestra creates a festive mood with a warm introduction presented by solo violin and cello, which leads into several contrasting variations of the tune. A minor variation provides a moment of reflection, which paves the way for a stirring chorale version of the melody, concluding with a sweeping finale. This intermediate arrangement is idiomatically written for developing string players, and is scored in the lower positions to allow directors to focus on blend, intonation and rhythmic accuracy. All sections are given interesting material to play. An optional part for orchestral bells provides a sparkly flavor to the piece.String Orchestra

An Austrian, he is best known for preceding Joseph Haydn, with whom he had a difficult relationship, as the Kapellmeister of the Hungarian Esterházy family. Most of his works are written in a strict contrapuntal style, although few were ever printed and most are lost. This edition of Werner's Pastoral for Christmas (Pastorella zur Weihnacht) in G Major was completed by Ernst Fritz Schmid. Without changing Eric Osterling's masterful transcription, this re-release with newly engraved parts and a full score has been carefully edited from the original orchestral score. It is music of enormous emotional impact that will add a touch of class to any concert program.Concert Band
