| 15362 | E1B1BB08-ABB8-4FC9-8721-B49510F35C26 | SS787 | Fantasy | According to Brittanica, John Jenkins’s (1592 - 1678 string fantasias, or fancies, for which he was renowned, reflect the stylistic change that took place in this form during his lifetime. The earlier five-part viol fantasias are largely polyphonic, showing the influence of the earlier ricercar and canzone. His later three-part fantasias for two violins and bass are multisectional, employ homophonic passages, and illustrate the influence of the trio sonata and of Italian fashions on form and figuration. His compositions also include rounds, songs, and anthems. | 2 Bb Clarinet, Bass Clarinet (alt. Bassoon) | |

One of Delibes' ballets that helped to redefine the importance of music in the art form, Coppélia remains a standard part of the ballet repertoire. This edition's score by William McDermott was copied from the original manuscript, with horns transposed to F and clarinets and trumpets transposed to A and B flat. The winds have been written into the score one pair per staff (and one pair per part in the parts) to facilitate cross-cueing in smaller orchestra. | 15378 | E1F42148-D49A-4583-879A-C9DCF8908B44 | SU797 | The Carnival of Venice (Il Carnevale di Venezia) | Giulio Briccialdi (1818-1881) was born in Terni, Italy in the Papal States and studied flute with his father until the age of 14. Following the passing of his father, Briccialdi moved to Rome, where he studied composition and was appointed to the Accademia di Santa Cecilia as flute teacher. He would ultimately go on to teach flute to Italian royalty, including the king's brother. He also toured as a performer throughout Europe and America and finally settled in London becoming a director of the flute-making firm, Rudall and Rose. During this time, he was responsible for several mechanical developments which are still in use today, notably the B-flat lever. Outside of Briccialdi’s important contributions to flute instrument making, this virtuoso arrangement of the popular theme would become one of his most enduring legacies. This exclusive edition of Carnival of Venice (Il Carnevale di Venezia) for flute and piano is edited, arranged and performed by Sir James Galway. | Flute and Piano | |
