The concerto consists of two movements. The slow first movement is based on the Persian mode of Châhargâh. A quick modulation leads to the fast second movement which is based on the Persian mode of Segâh. During the cadenza, the soloist makes a modulation back to Chahârgâh and the piece ends in this mode. The title of the piece “Chârsegâh” reflects the fact that the work is simultaneously in two Persian modes, the Chargâh and the Segâh.Solo Kamancheh: Perc(3): Pno.Hp: Str

With a lilting Bel Canto style in 12/8, its lyric melody features passages of filigree work that will excite and challenge the musician's technical as well as expressive capabilities. The piece is ideal for contest or recital for the intermediate player. This edition for flute and piano has been carefully arranged and edited by world-renowned flutist and teacher, Sir James Galway.Flute, Piano

15353E17E8044-2020-433C-ADB5-55E419C04DC220100278Elegy For BandThis lovely composition, which focuses on legato playing from all sections, was originally titled Serenade for Summer. It was composed as a tribute to a young girl who met with an untimely death and is intended to show two realities: the sorrow at her passing and the joy that her youthful spirit will survive. While devoid of false sentimentality, the composition touches the hope in all of us that we, too, will be remembered for our influence upon the lives of others. Technically not demanding, this will allow you to focus on your band's tone quality, balance and blend.Concert Band

Known best for his piano compositions, his most popular work is his Spanish Dances, Op. 12, composed for piano four-hands in 1876, which he later arranged for solo piano himself. Consisting of five pieces, Moszkowski stated that none of the themes are based on any known Spanish melodies, but they are entirely his own creations, written in a Spanish style. The work was so popular that Moszkowski's friend Ludwig Philipp Scharwenka (1847-1917) orchestrated Nos. 2 and 5 in 1879, while Valentin Frank (1858-1929) orchestrated Nos. 1, 3, and 4 in 1884. Each of these orchestrations is available from the publisher. Instrumentation: 2+Picc.2.2.2: 4.2.3.0: Timp.Perc(2): Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set).2+Picc.2.2.2: 4.2.3.0: Timp.Perc(2): Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set)

It is the second composition by the composer to be named as such, composed over ten years after his ALLEGRO APPASSIONATO IN B MINOR, Op. 43 for cello and orchestra. Completed in 1884, shortly following the premiere of his opera HENRY VIII, it is performed in a single movement. A mysterious three note motif provides the opening material and frequently appears throughout the rest of the piece. 15358E1A1D515-E2FF-4379-81D3-14FBBBAF2DAEA303302Symphony No. 3 in A minor, 'Unfinished' (completed and orchestrated by Glazunov)Alexander Borodin's (1833-1887) Symphony No. 3 in A minor was written between 1886 and 1887. However, it remained unfinished at the time of his death, with only a sketch of the first movement and a completed version of the second movement, which is an orchestration of a work he had written for string quartet from Les Vendredis. Nothing of the third and fourth movements was ever produced. Following his death in 1887, composer Alexander Glazunov completed and orchestrated the two movements available, which were then published in 1889. Even though it remained unfinished, Symphony No. 3 is in good company with Borodin's tone poem Steppes of Central Asia, opera Prince Igor, and Symphony No. 2 in creating a uniquely Russian musical identity.
