ALLEGRO APPASSIONATO IN C-SHARP MINOR, Op. 70 is a work for piano and orchestra by Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921). It is the second composition by the composer to be named as such, composed over ten years after his ALLEGRO APPASSIONATO IN B MINOR, Op. 43 for cello and orchestra. Completed in 1884, shortly following the premiere of his opera HENRY VIII, it is performed in a single movement. A mysterious three note motif provides the opening material and frequently appears throughout the rest of the piece. Instrumentation: 2.2.2.2: 2.2.0.0: Str (9.8.7.6.5 in set): Solo Pno in set.
