The chromatics presented in the work are primarily alternating between 2 and low 2 fingerings. All sections but the double bass stay in first position, with the singular exception of a two-bar cello line. The phrase “too big shoes” can be found in several musical motifs throughout the piece. In fact, in the “ride out” section, the musicians are encouraged to sing or shout “too big shoes” as they play. This one’s sure to please both your students and the audience.String Orchestra

Hartley (1927-2016), whose works for saxophone and low brass significantly expanded the repertoire available for those instruments, wrote the QUARTET CONCERTO for SATB saxophones in 1992 for a commission by the Atlanta Saxophone Quartet for a premiere with the DeKalb Symphony Orchestra. His SUITE D’ORCHESTRE, Op. 9, (Suite No. 1), is the first of three such suites for orchestra, the last of which was completed in 1938. The C major suite premiered under the baton of the composer at a Bucharest Philharmonic Society concert on February 23, 1903. His two ROMANIAN RHAPSODIES also appeared on the program for their first performances. Instrumentation: 2+Picc.2 (2nd d. EH).2.2: 4.2.3.0: Timp: Perc(1): Hp: Str (9.8.7.6.5 in set).2+Picc.2 (2nd d. These, however, he gave to his great friend, the clarinetist Richard Mühlfeldt. They include both the piano scores plus the clarinet parts written for Mühlfeldt. They not only clear up problems of where Brahms placed dynamics and expression marks, they resolve questions of misprints which have remained to this day in every edition since Simrock first published them in 1895.Clarinet, Piano

13697C87FA6B4-6D5E-49DC-8796-49D2F77BA4DBA673102Federal MarchAlexander Reinagle was America’s first composer of significant genius. Born in Portsmouth, England in 1756, the same year as Mozart, Reinagle began his musical career in Scotland under the tutelage of Raynor Taylor. At age 30, he emigrated to the then new United States, first in New York and shortly afterward in Philadelphia where his many talents were more fully appreciated. He became a music teacher in the best families, as an entrepreneur he played a major role in the reestablishment of the theatre in Philadelphia following its banishment during the Revolution, conducted and performed in numerous concerts besides presiding at the harpsichord in opera. Federal March was written in 1788 and performed in Philadelphia as a part of the Grand Procession to celebrate the newly ratified Constitution. This edition was orchestrated by Sam Dennison.Instrumentation: 1+Picc.2.2.1: 2.0.0.0: Timp: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set).1+Picc.2.2.1: 2.0.0.0: Timp: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set)
13698C887FB2C-1244-4D1F-9ADC-A1AC36A191F4A218402Sleeping Beauty, The, Op. 66 (complete)THE SLEEPING BEAUTY, Op. 66, was written by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) between 1888 and 1889. Based on a libretto by Ivan Vsevolozhsky, the well-known story borrows from versions by both the Grimm brothers and Charles Perrault, though characters such as the Lilac Fairy appear to have been additions by Vsevolozhsky himself. The work premiered on January 15, 1890, in St. Petersburg at the Mariinsky Theatre, fellow ballet composer Riccardo Drigo conducting and choreography by the famed Marius Petipa. This newly engraved edition by Carl Simpson places a greater emphasis upon the first edition of the full score from 1890 than the subsequent Soviet edition issued by Muzgiz in 1952, but all variants have been preserved and placed within the score itself so that performers can easily make their own choice of which version is to be used for a particular movement.
