He discovered the three Czech folk melodies in Vienna, drawn from the collection "Marriage among the Czech People" by B.M. Kulda. The selected songs are contrasting in character—one slow and reflective, another lively and merry, and the third rhythmically complex—showcasing the diverse emotional and stylistic range of Czech folk music. | 11888 | AE0BD496-2E13-4B4D-A9C5-F71C6DF2EEB1 | SU208 | Concerto No. 1 in F Major | According to his contemporaries, Etienne Ozi (1754-1813) was the finest bassoonist of his day. One of eight bassoon concertos, his first, Concerto in F Major, was published by Boyer in Paris in 1785, during the time he was in the service of the duc d'Orleans. In adapting this concerto for bassoon and piano, it was the goal of the editor to create a performing edition that remained as close to the original publication as possible with minimal changes: orchestral parts were modified to make them more pianistic and additional dynamics and articulation markings [all clearly indicated in brackets] were added to the solo bassoon part. This edition contains a table of ornaments and trills for the solo bassoonist to study. | Bassoon and Piano

The tranquil and melodic song has been arranged in multiple ways (all with piano accompaniment) by Floyd O. Harris, all of which are available from the publisher: Alto Saxophone solo, duo, and trio (3rd Alto Saxophone also includes a Tenor Saxophone substitute); Tenor Saxophone solo; Cornet/Trumpet solo, duo, and trio; Trombone/Euphonium/Baritone B.C. solo, duo, and trio. These arrangements are wonderful for developing students looking for a lyrical piece to take to contest or recital. | Alto Saxophone Duo and Piano
| 11890 | AE1086C4-756C-47DA-A288-B5DEF56071A5 | A774490 | Sinfonia No. 4: String Symphony in C minor | This is the fourth among thirteen string symphonies written between 1821 and 1823, when Mendelssohn was twelve to fourteen years old. Like the other twelve, it was written as a tribute to early Classical symphonies by composers such as Haydn, J.C. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, and Mozart, a feature much more obvious in the first six as they were more imitative. The second grouping, starting with Sinfonia No. 7, show more of the composer's emerging personal style. Mendelssohn composed most of the thirteen works in three movements, and his fourth string symphony is no exception. The set includes a string count of 8-8-5-5-5. | String Orchestra (8-8-5-5-5 in set) | |

Premiered on November 17, 1866 at the Opéra-Comique, it achieved immediate success. The French libretto, based on a novel by Goethe, was written by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré. A revised version in Italian received its first performance at the Drury Lane Theatre in London on July 5, 1870. The plot involves a minstrel named Lothario, reduced to madness by the loss of his daughter to a group of gypsies. The student Wilhelm, after purchasing her freedom, falls in love with her. After Wilhelm rescues her from a burning castle, Lothario learns that Mignon, in fact, is his lost daughter. Act II opens with the charming ENTR’ACTE-GAVOTTE. | 11896 | AE283BAF-4D8D-4474-BE87-A2D7F0AC2251 | M206991 | Six Studies in English Folk Song for Viola and Piano | Originally written in 1926 for cellist May Mukle with piano accompaniment, this collection follows the same format for each of the six English folk songs: presentation of the tune in the solo line, followed by a full iteration of the folk song in the piano with an ornamented solo line. Writing that his aim in setting the songs was for them to be "treated with love," Williams also transcribed these songs for violin, viola, and clarinet (all three available from the publisher along with the cello version) among other instruments. The first five songs in the collection are slow and quiet while the sixth, in contrast, is marked Allegro Vivace. Songs: I. Lovely on the Water, II. Spurn Point, III. Van Dieman's Land, IV. The Lady and the Dragon, V. She Borrowed Some of Her Mother's Gold, VI. As I walked over London Bridge. | Viola and Piano
