| 10586 | 9A75EB04-9C9B-43B6-BB61-D457AA86E6DC | A143990 | Pavane, Op. 50 for Orchestra and Optional Chorus | The Pavane in F-sharp minor, Op. 50, is by French composer Gabriel Fauré written in 1887. It was originally a piano piece, but is better known in Fauré's version for orchestra and optional chorus. Obtaining its rhythm from the slow processional Spanish court dance of the same name, the Pavane ebbs and flows from a series of harmonic and melodic climaxes, conjuring a haunting Belle Époque elegance. The standout melancholic second movement, Andante cantabile (Bb major), based on a folk song whistled by a house painter at the composer's sister's house, was arranged for cello and string orchestra in 1888. This reduction for cello and piano has been edited by famed cellist Emilio Colón. | Cello and piano | |

Op. 4 opens with a brooding first movement, primarily lyrical in content, which is followed by a dance-like second movement. The Sonata is strongly romantic in approach and is infused with Kodaly's usual usage of the Hungarian language. Reprint edition. | Violoncello and Piano | |

| 10594 | 9a8788ab-9e3a-11f0-a418-0022482c9682 | A876402 | Serenade in F (1st publication) | The SERENADE IN F MAJOR for string orchestra, completed in 1890 by American composer George Whitefield Chadwick (1854-1931), evokes the grace and humor of the European serenade. It belongs to a prolific period of artistic growth that followed his return from Germany where he had studied with composer Carl Reinecke. At the same time, the work displays unmistakable characteristics of American folk music, popular tunes, and hymnody. The manuscript bears a dedication by the composer to the St. Louis Musical Club. The initial publication of the serenade is presented in this Kalmus edition. Instrumentation: String Orchestra (8-8-5-5-5 in set). | String Orchestra (8-8-5-5-5 in set) | |

| 10598 | 9A943268-EFBF-4560-A3F0-0DA53367AE4E | M253891 | Romantic Pieces (4), Op. 75/B. 150 | In 1887, Antonín Dvo?ák (1841-1904) was living at his mother-in-law's house where another room was rented to an amateur violinist, Josef Kruis. Dvo?ák often heard Kruis playing duets with his teacher and decided to write a trio to join them, resulting in his TERZETTO, Op. 74 for two violins and viola. This work proved too difficult for Kruis, resulting in Dvo?ák composing the easier MINIATURES, Op. 75a, a four movement work for the same instrumentation. The composer so liked the little trios that he arranged them for violin and piano under the title 4 ROMANTIC PIECES, Op. 75/B. 150. This critical edition was completed by Dvo?ák expert Otakar Šourek and the violin part was revised by Josef Micka. Reprint edition. | Violin and Piano | |
