These Sonatas cross the bridge into the Classical period, proof of which is the bowing techniques and expanded ranges used. Violin 1 gets most of the action and will require a more advance player, while Violin 2 provides a graceful accompaniment. First movements are sonata allegro form and second movements are variations. Set includes a full score and two parts.Violin Duo
940389D571A9-1BDD-41CC-9BA0-D6C6FEDBD2BAM161091Chants Du RhinThe Chants du Rhin (Songs of the Rhine) is a cycle of six dreamy miniatures based on poems by Joseph Méry and composed in 1865. The songs are grouped symmetrically around the central “La bohémienne,” revealing the beautiful and free-spirited gypsy girl as the overall theme. Bizet would return to the gypsy theme one year later in La jolie fille de Perth, and most famously ten years later in the opera, Carmen.Piano Solo

940889DFD53E-C329-4401-9509-0E0E369FBB20S988CBNobles of the Mystic ShrineSousa composed this march at the request of his nephew, who was sponsoring his uncle’s entrance into the Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine in 1922. The following year, the march received its premiere in Washington D.C., under the largest band ever led by Sousa, comprised of no fewer than 6,200 Shriners. This medium-level arrangement by Charles L. Booker makes this classic march more accessible to bands, with scoring for modern instrumental forces and transposition to an easier key.Concert Band

Composed in 1903, the work is alleged to have emerged as a response to the assertion that his music, on the whole, proved too serious and heavy-handed. One of three "Swedish rhapsodies," it takes much of its inspiration from Swedish folk music, evoking various midsummer rituals such a maypole dance and a rustic wedding. In October 1920, Ballet Suedois performed a ballet adaptation of the piece called LA NUIT DE ST JEAN, with choreography by Jean Börlin. Instrumentation: 3(3rd d. Picc).3(3rd d. EH).2(2nd d.
