| 5901 | 5620DD3E-B78A-4B63-B318-40FD43031EC7 | S968CB | Ritmico | Ritmico is a driving, energetic overture for symphonic band. Singing melodic lines are underpinned by infectious rhythmic grooves in the percussion and bass instruments which define the main theme. The middle section is a chorale that builds gradually as a pastoral theme stated in the woodwind choir expands both harmonically and instrumentally to a sweeping climactic statement which then transitions into a final recapitulation of the main theme. This time, the melody’s reprisal is propelled forward with the accompaniment of counterpoint, winding up in dramatic intensity to the exclamatory and exciting conclusion to the work. This is a fine addition to concert and contest repertoire that will showcase your band’s stylistic versitility and have your listeners leaning forward in their seats! | Concert Band | |

Reza Vali’s "Calligraphies" series is a set of an ongoing cycle of works based on the Persian modal system, the "Dastgâh", which he has been composing since 2000. The basic compositional material of the work is derived from a fast tempo genre, called the "Reng", which is usually performed at the end of a traditional Persian music concert. Versions for Persian Santoor with string quartet (original) and for string quartet only are available from the publisher. The original version was premiered on March 18-20, 2016 at the McConnell Arts Center in Columbus, Ohio, by Dariush Saghafi, Santoor, and the Carpe Diem String Quartet. | String Quartet

The bassoon has basically a soft tone that is enhanced by velvety string sounds. But the piano, being tonally brilliant, tends to rob the bassoon of its identity. | Bassoon, Violin, Viola, Cello

This favorite Beethoven melody has been modified just slightly to facilitate the technical demands on the young performer. Third clarinets stay below the break while the percussion keep a stately tempo. The gentle sway of this early march and the visual opulence of the crescent make this a real showstopper! | Concert Band
