These Firemen and Policemen risked their lives daily, but on that one day, many answered their last call in the ultimate sacrifice that truly symbolizes the adage: Duty, Honor and Country. The work consists of alternating musical sections of dramatic and cathartic musical materials that culminate in a dramatic fashion as diverse voices join in with the final chorus.Wind Ensemble

The son of a Lutheran pastor, Praetorius composed numerous collections of Lutheran chorales and other liturgical works. He is largely known, however, for his collection of 312 dances, TERPSICHORE, MUSARUM AONIARUM QUINTA, published in 1612. Adolf Hoffmann edited this Kalmus edition of six of the four-part dance suites, of which this is the second volume. The first volume, A710502, is also available. Reprint edition. Debussy was reluctant initially to see these early piano works published at all as they were written before he developed his mature style, but a publisher convinced him that they would be successful given the fame Debussy had achieved since he first wrote them. The third movement, CLAIR DE LUNE, is one of the most famous works in classical music and certainly among Debussy's best-known pieces. This newly engraved edition of CLAIR DE LUNE has been completed by Richard Dowling.Solo Piano

30702BAC8F73-5F47-412F-B563-DBDF6FB86177M800490Pavane for String OrchestraThe Pavane, Op. 50, is by French composer Gabriel Fauré written in 1887. It was originally a piano piece, but is better known in Fauré's version for orchestra and optional chorus. Obtaining its rhythm from the slow processional Spanish court dance of the same name, the Pavane ebbs and flows from a series of harmonic and melodic climaxes, conjuring a haunting Belle Époque elegance. This version is arranged for String Orchestra by Carl Simpson.String Orchestra

30722BB82BBB-E57A-4290-80D2-F484DD3B92FFA118702Carmen Suite No. 1Ernest Guiraud (1837-1892) was a colleague and good friend of Bizet's. After Bizet's death, he composed the recitatives still commonly used in Carmen. Between 1880 and 1882, he compiled two orchestral suites from this opera, each in five movements, for Choudens, Bizet's publisher. The first of these two suites included the Prelude, Aragonaise, Intermezzo, Les Dragons d 'Alcala and a Final (Les Toreadors). In this first suite, Guiraud stayed fairly close to Bizet's original orchestration. The present edition seeks to be even more faithful to Bizet's scoring. Around 1906, the German composer-conductor Fritz Hoffmann (1873-19xx) arranged the Séguidille for orchestra, for inclusion in a publication of the Suite by a German publisher. This arrangement has also been included in this suite. Instrumentation: 2(2dPicc).2(2dEH).2.2: 4.2.3.0: Timp.Perc: Hp: Str(9.8.7.6.5 in set). The Carrollton Band was organized in 1872. In 1896, the band was reorganized to run in a more businesslike fashion, with M. H. Webster, director and Ira S. Moody, manager. King's Carrollton March, dedicated to Moody, was published in 1909.Concert Band
30792BC8B394-C846-4105-B7AC-261CBAE07D71A170802Symphony No. 4 in A, Op. 90 "Italian"From 1829 to 1831, Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) was occupied by a tour of Europe. Out of that tour came several of his best-known works, including Symphony No. 3 "Scottish," The Hebrides overture, and Symphony No. 4 "Italian." Mendelssohn completed this last work in 1833, conducting its premiere at the London (Royal) Philharmonic Society on May 13 of that year. Despite its lauded position now in the orchestral repertoire, and the fact that it is among the most popular of Mendelssohn's works, the composer was never satisfied with the symphony, periodically attempting revisions over the years. As a result, it remained unpublished until 1851, a few years after Mendelssohn's death, and it was the original 1833 version that found its way to publication. It is this version that is still most frequently performed today. Instrumentation: 2.2.2.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set).2.2.2.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set)
