Vivaldi even published the concerti with accompanying sonnets that made clear what in each season the music was meant to invoke. "Summer" is the second concerto of the group. I:86; critical ed.) | SYMPHONY NO. 86 IN D MAJOR, (Hob. 1:86) was one of six written by Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) to fulfill a commission by Count Claude d’Ogney. Composed in 1786, it is often considered to be the most opulent of the Paris symphonies, tailored to the large orchestra assembled for the count’s "Concert de la loge Olympique" concert series. First performed in its 1787 season, it was praised by a critic in the "Mercure de France" for its ability to extract "from a singular subject the most rich and varied developments." Instrumentation: 1.2.0.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Str (4.4.3.3.3 in set). Reprint of this critical edition by H.C. Robbins Landon. | 1.2.0.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Str (4.4.3.3.3 in set) | |

| 13991 | CD68E29D-2811-4A34-AC53-7D1244D28AC5 | S131015 | Three Preludes for Clarinet and Piano | Taking inspiration from Jascha Heifetz’ masterful transcription of George Gershwin’s wonderfully original 3 Preludes, editor Charles Neidich has created a piece that functions as a real duet between clarinet and piano. Rather then simply transpose the Heifetz violin part, Neidich adapted the work to fit the clarinet, taking what works well and changing other parts, often returning to Gershwin’s original to the fit the character of the clarinet. The transcription includes an A clarinet part in E minor for those who find the 2nd Preludes original key of D# minor daunting. | Clarinet, Piano | |
