Bach to Frederick 'The Great' of Prussia, this was a six-voice ricercare (a less strictly defined form than a fugue, but similar). The musical weaving of wind band colors in this transcription is stunning. Nuance, balance, musicality, and attention to fellow performers are pointed goals for this satisfying publication. | Concert Band | |

| 1298 | 11B08DC6-785D-4769-8E4C-9EAEB6ADCC26 | A849602 | El Amor Brujo - Concert Suite (The Phantom Lover) | The ballet El Amor Brujo (The Phantom Lover) was composed by Manuel de Falla (1876-1946) in 1915, with revisions taking place throughout until 1920, resulting in several versions. In the ballet, which uses a libretto by María de la O Lejárraga García, a young Andalusian gypsy girl is haunted by the ghost of her dead husband. To be rid of the ghost, all of the gypsies form a circle around their campfire at midnight, while the girl performs the Ritual Fire Dance. When the ghost appears, she dances with him until he is drawn into the fire, vanishing forever. This concert suite of the music from the ballet has been orchestrated by William Ryden. Sections included: Chez Les Gitanes, Cancion Del Amor Dolido, El Circulo Magico, A Medio Noche, and Danza Ritual Del Fuego.
