12862bbfeb3cd-9e39-11f0-a418-0022482c9682A194102Semiramide: OvertureSEMIRAMIDE stands as the final Italian opera by Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868) and one of his most ambitious bel canto creations. Based on the play SERIRAMIS, Voltaire’s tragedy about the legendary Assyrian queen, it tells a dramatic tale of murder, mistaken identity, and royal intrigue, featuring the titular queen’s tormented past and her eventual downfall at the hands of her own son, Arsace. The opera premiered at La Fenice in Venice on February 3, 1823. Achieving initial success across Europe, it fell into neglect until its eventual revival in the twentieth century. Today, it is celebrated as a pinnacle of the bel canto tradition, admired for its virtuosic vocal challenges and Rossini’s mature mastery of operatic form. The sparkling Overture, often performed apart from the opera, betrays nothing of the lurid, violent nature of the plot. Instrumentation: 1+Picc.2.2.2: 4.2.3.0: Timp.Perc(1): Str (9.8.7.6.5 in set). Affiliating herself with nationalist composers such as Saint-Saëns and Gounod, her style was very much rooted in both Romantic and French tradition. Her tuneful and highly accessible works were also tremendous favorites in the United States. Chaminade's Album of Songs was originally published between 1892 and 1893 and included thirty-seven total songs across two volumes, with versions for both high voice and low voice made available. LudwigMasters has made all thirty-seven songs available, with three books for each volume, totaling six books each for both high and low voices. Included in Volume 2, Book 2: Chant d’amour (W305, 1894); Villanelle (W306, 1894); Vieille Chanson (W307, 1894); Trahison (W308; 1894); Aubade (W309; 1894).High Voice and Piano

12866BC077AA1-79D8-4893-8710-FE42F9F609DCR01508Symphony No. 3: Eines Helden Träne (A Hero's Tear)The Third Symphony is scored for full orchestra, strictly following the High Classical and Romantic traditions, with a tragic and expansive overture, a symphonic nocturne, a light and quick scherzo, and a vibrant rondo-finale. The "Hero" in the subtitle does not represent any human figure, but art itself and its failing social status. The music is grand and highly emotional, containing rich folk elements that strive to unify an ethnical spirit and the meaning of selfhood.(2012) ca. 32'2+Picc.2+EH.2+EbCl.2+Cbsn: 4.3.3.1: Timp.Perc(5).Hp: Str(16.14.12.10.8 recommended)

He is sometimes referred to as "The Austrian March King". He is best known for his 1893 march "Unter dem Doppeladler" (Op. 159) or "Under the Double Eagle", referring to the double eagle in the coat of arms of Austria-Hungary. The march became a favourite part of the repertoire of American composer and bandleader John Philip Sousa, whose band recorded it three times. The piece was the official regimental march of Austrian Artillery Regiment Number 2 until its dissolution in 2007.Concert band

The harpsichord part was discounted (it being the realization of a figured bass by an unknown former arranger) but the other parts were left almost exactly as Corelli wrote them. The cello part has been assigned to a third violin (or viola).Violin 1, 2 and 3 (opt. Viola)
