It is basically a ragtime march, and avoids the elaborate cross-rhythms and sticking techniques popularized by the composer's brother, George Hamilton Green. This simplicity, however, is part of its charm, and the Trio section is a classic stop-time chorus. | Solo Xylophone, Marimba (2 players), Drum set

When played well, it is a very rewarding work which appeals to audiences everywhere. | Flute Quartet

| 11098 | A19D0302-92C3-4459-84A5-A18D0CC39FD2 | SS755 | Serenade for Clarinet (reduction) | This work is one of a group of three pieces for solo wind instruments and band commissioned by the G. LeBlanc Corporation as performance vehicles for their artist/clinicians, the other two being "Ode for Trumpet" and Ballade for Alto Saxophone". This serenade was written for clarinetist Robert E. Lowry. Set in the form of a freely developing lyrical idyl in variation form involving an almost continous musical development, the solo clarinet line together with a constantly shifting harmonic background paint a pastoral scene of Sioux life that suggests an overall three-part song form. Versions for orchestra, band, and piano accompaniment are available from the publisher. | Clarinet, Piano | |
| 11099 | A1A2E5B4-2BAA-4CE9-BBE8-7014B4055A14 | A906790 | Arietta for Full Orchestra | Leroy Anderson composed "Arietta" in 1962 in Woodbury, Connecticut. The main melody first materialized as a brief eight-measure sketch for viola and cello, intended for Leroy Anderson's daughter Jane on viola and himself on cello. Anderson later decided to expand the melody into a composition for string orchestra. Leroy Anderson is known for his polished orchestrations of descriptive compositions, characterized as romantic or nostalgic in theme. "Arietta" stands in contrast as an elegant, cool and somewhat abstract piece. "...the string part of the orchestra and string orchestra editions are identical, since the music is complete with strings alone. Wind parts of the orchestra editions double the strings for added color and may be used as available." An American Pops classic, this work is part of the Anderson Classics Series by E.F. Kalmus.
