85010E777A-5AE7-499F-BFC4-63DE440748D8S1031CBHeart of America MarchHeart of America is a simple, standard march, composed to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Kansas Bandmasters Association (1972-2022).The composer’s intent was to write a simple piece that any school band in Kansas could play. While working on the beginning of the march, Barnes came up with the idea of using the Kansas State Song, Home on the Range by Dan Kelly, as the trio melody. This little march is carefully scored and cued so that it can be played with almost any instrumentation.Concert Band
86010f5720-9e3b-11f0-a418-0022482c9682M116491String Quartet No. 1, Op. 7/Sz. 40Béla Bartók (1881-1945) composed a total of six string quartets, which are considered 20th-century milestones in the genre. STRING QUARTET No. 1 in A minor, Op. 7/ Sz. 40 was composed between 1908 and 1909. The first movement is largely inspired by Bartók's unhappy and unrequited love for violinist Stefi Geyer, which in a letter to her he called a "funeral dirge." The following two movements are much faster, and the work ends happily. The work premiered on March 19, 1910 in Budapest by the Waldbauer-Kerpely Quartet. In Danza de los Montes, we feel their rhythms juxtaposed to the scales that suffered the passing of time. The result is an exciting study on rhythms and melodic counterpoints.Violin, Clarinet in Bb, Piano, Bandoneon, Bass, Percussion
