The work was later champoined by bass trombonist Douglas Yeo who ultimately performed it with the Boston Pops Orchestra conducted by John Williams. In three connected movements, the concerto explores in a clever and unpretentious way the full range of the performer's capabilities, and includes an optional part for medeival cupped bells inspired by Craig Kridel's performance. Reza Vali’s "Calligraphies" series is a set of an ongoing cycle of works based on the Persian modal system, the "Dastgâh", which he has been composing since 2000. The basic compositional material of the work is derived from a fast tempo genre, called the "Reng", which is usually performed at the end of a traditional Persian music concert. "Raak" includes meter changes on almost every measure, and will phase quickly between entirely homophonic sections and sections with entirely independent parts writing.String Quartet

Kennedy was inaugurated at 35th President of the United States, the poet, Robert Frost, an honored guest at the ceremony, said that we were entering an age of poetry and power. Some two and half years later, less than a month before his assissination, President Kennedy, in dedicating the Robert Frost memorial at Amherst College, took up this theme, in a memorable speech celebrating not only America's military heroes, but her artistic ones as well, and said, "When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the areas of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses." This deeply stirring passage has been taken as the basis for this Ceremonial Concert March, dedicated to the memory of John F. Kennedy. Ths music is fundamentally a three-part form. It is scored for a large and varied instrumentation, showing off to the fullest possible extent the range of tone color and dynamic range of the modern, fully integrated Symphonic Band.Concert Band

His works are numerous and represent all areas of composition. The three works in this collection are representative of Purcell's finest writing for the harpsichord. The HORNPIPE was written as one of a group of incidental pieces for the play "The Old Bachelor," while the MINUET and MARCH were composed as individual pieces in the style of the period. Each is dramatic and expressive in its simplicity. Each composition requires careful attention to style: The HORNPIPE with its lightly articulated syncopated figures, the MINUET with its lyrical phrases, and the marked and repetitive patterns of the MARCH. 198028A091F-00F1-4118-9F61-DF089AB0F851A649490At the Bier of a Young Artist, CNW 36/FS 58 (Ved en Ung Kunstners Baare)Carl Nielsen (1865-1931) composed VED EN UNG KUNSTNERS BÅRE (AT THE BIER OF A YOUNG ARTIST), CNW 36/ FS 58, in memory of the Danish painter Oluf Hartmann who died suddenly in January 1910 at the age of 31. The Gade Quartet gave the first performance of the work under the name ANDANTE LAMENTOSO on January 21, at his Cemetery Chapel funeral in Holmen. Nielsen completed a version for string orchestra in April, conducting it for an Easter concert at the Church of Our Lady in Copenhagen. The work was also played at Nielsen's own funeral service on October 9, 1931, in Copenhagen Cathedral. Despite its brevity, its effect is intense and poignant.
