| 9781 | 8F4AAD4E-7261-4B9F-B6AA-17AFBA7CE9B2 | 10250114 | Dance of the Furies | DANCE OF THE FURIES was originally scored for strings with pairs of oboes, bassoons, and horns, plus three trombones. This arrangement moves essential wind lines into string parts while maintaining the original flavor of the well-known composition. The bass part, which originally duplicated the cello line, has been rhythmically simplified while preserving shift work necessary for the technical challenge to developing basses. Advanced bass students may with to play from cello parts. The challenge to all lies in speed. | String Orchestra | |

Lang (17 April 1911, in New York – 22 February 1986, in Branford, Connecticut) was an American musical arranger, orchestrator and composer of band music, as well as a musical educator. He is credited for writing the orchestral arrangements (orchestrations) for over 50 Broadway theatre shows, including many landmark productions, such as Li'l Abner (1956), Hello, Dolly! (1964), Mame (1966), George M (1968), Annie (1977) and 42nd Street (1980). Together with Robert Russell Bennett, he orchestrated the record-breaking productions of Lerner and Loewe's My Fair Lady (1956) and Camelot (1960). The dean of musical orchestrators, Russell Bennett remarked that the original arrangements Lang had prepared for Annie Get Your Gun (1946), which utilized a modern technique of orchestral scoring, were beautifully done. | 3(Pi)3(EH)33(Cbn) 4431 Timp 5Pc Hp Str | |

Dvo?ák often heard Kruis playing duets with his teacher and decided to write this trio to join them, though the work proved too difficult for Kruis, resulting in the later and easier composition MINIATURES, Op. 75a.
