It tells the story of the Jewish people under the Seleucid Empire, which sought to destroy the Jewish religion, and the leader Judas Maccabaeus who inspired his people to victory. It premiered at Covent Garden in London on April 1, 1747, with Händel conducting. The chorus Hallelujah, Amen is the final chorus of the oratorio, after victory has been acheived by the Jewish people and news arrives that Rome will form an alliance with Judas to defeat the Seleucid Empire.0.2.0.1: 0.3.0.0: Timp: Org: Str (2-2-2-1-1 in set): Mix Chorus

(WITHOUT CARES), Op. 271 in the summer of 1869 while staying with his brother Johann in Pavlosk, which is near St. Petersberg. Having just recovered from an illness, Strauss wanted to create a lively music full of intoxicating optimism, with directions even given to the musicians to laugh ("ha, ha, ha"). The work premiered on September 10, 1869, less than a year before his passing. 897283E0852F-C08E-4377-A4D8-1732F6D9DE9AM804790HumoresqueAlthough this Humoresque is an entirely original composition, its style is very much that of a Russian folksong. Tchaikovsky originally wrote this piece for piano, but he liked it so much that he arranged it for violin and piano, emphasizing its folksong character. The composer's violin and piano arrangement has been amplified into an exciting piece for string orchestra.String Orchestra
