He published a two-hand version a few years later. In 1888, Czech violinist Hans Sitt transcribed the work for full orchestra. The first dance is based on a Scottish tune. The last three dances, folk dances known as hallings, come from the Hallingdal region of Norway and are often performed by two or three males to show off their agility and strength.Piano

He worked with the Bach-Gesellschaft edition and a facsimile of the manuscript copied by Anna Magdalena. The viola part, in suites one through five, is written one octave higher than in the original. For practical purposes, Suite No. 6 has been transposed from the key of D major to G major.Viola

Le Bal de Béatrice d’Este is a charmming post-Romantic ballet that blurs the line between Renaissance Italy and end-of-the-century France. Written for winds, two harps and two pianos in 1905, this seven-movement suite has become standard repertoire for both collegiate wind band and professional orchestras.2.1.2.2: 2.1.0.0: Timp.Perc: Hp(2).Pno(2)

The work is in three main parts including an opening Scherzo, an expressive yet simple Adagietto, and a Presto recapitulation of the opening themes followed by an extended trumpet candenza, a woodwind interlude and finally a short and energetic coda. The work is an excellent showpiece of the lyrical and technical abilities of the trumpet and euphonium and is available with band accompaniment for rental as well as with piano accompaniment, available for sale.Trumpet, Euphonium Soli; Band

Although Bach's great genius outstrips his predecessors in the use of these forms, the organ music of the seventeenth century is well worth examination in its own right. In comparison with the works of the post-Bach period, which have enjoyed long popularity, it shows up to enormous advantage. This collection will have served its purpose if its stimulates the organist to explore the rich material afforded by that earlier period. Works in volume 1: Alberti: Der du bist drei Einigkeit; 2. Anonymous: Ach Gott, vom Himmel sieh darein; 3. Johann Bernhard Bach: Du Friedefürst, Herr Jesu Christ; 4. Johann Michael Bach: Von Gott will ich nicht lassen; 5. Wilhelm Friedemann Bach: Durch Adams Fall ist ganz verderbt; 6. Wilhelm Friedemann Bach: Was mein Gott will, das gescheh allzeit; 7. Wilhelm Friedemann Bach: Wir danken dir, Herr Jesu Christ; 8.

7380A0A32D4-0E3D-47C8-B42E-F2299FAB6154A935490Hary Janos Suite: IntermezzoThe Háry János Suite is derived from Zoltán Kodály's (1882-1967) 1926 comic opera. The opera tells the fantastical tale of the title character's imagination, from having the wife of Napoleon, Empress Marie Louise, fall in love with him, to his single-handedly defeating Napoleon’s army, to Háry's return home to Hungary on the realization that his happiness can only be found with his village sweetheart, Orzse. The full suite, which premiered on March 3, 1927 in Barcelona with the Orquestra Pau Casals under Antal Fleischer, includes six movements depicting many of these outrageous stories from the opera. The Intermezzo takes place after Háry defeats Napoleon’s army in battle. The whirling csárdás celebrates the victory with the syncopation and spirit of this traditional Hungarian dance.
