This trend exhibited a heavy influence on the poetry and music of the time. In 1814, Friedrich Treitschke penned a patriotic opera, DIE GUTE NACHRICHT, on which several Viennese composers collaborated, including Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). He contributed the music for the closing number, a song celebrating German courage in five patriotic verses. The first performance of GERMANIA, WoO 94, took place on April 11, 1814 at the Theater am Kärntnertor in Vienna. The three-movement suite was premiered by the Tivoli Orchestra in Copenhagen on September 8th, 1888, Balduin Dahl conducting and Nielsen himself in the 2nd violin section.
