Composed between 1735 and 1745, the work is similar to the CONCERTO FOR TWO VIOLINS (BWV 1043) and CONCERTO FOR TWO HARPSICHORDS (BWV 1062) in the relationship between the concertino groups and the ripieno group, and also in the cantabile slow movement. This Kalmus edition was edited by Paul Waldersee for the Bach-Gesellschaft Ausgabe (Bach Society Edition). Instrumentation: Soli harpsichords(3): Str (2.2.2.1.1 in set). Concurrently writing his five violin concertos, the composer chose to feature a solo violin in three of the movements. While it retains a seven-part structure, an impromptu violin concerto is cleverly couched within the work. As he did with most of his serenades for orchestra, Mozart crafted a symphony using the other four movements. Instrumentation: 2.2.0.1: 2.2.0.0: Str (4-4-3-3-3 in set): Solo Violin in set.
