| 15167 | DEFA75D9-CD63-4190-BF6C-F32FFAFCB072 | A013190 | Heroic March | In 1746, the composer George Frideric Handel composed his oratorio Judas Maccabeus, putting the biblical story in the context of the Jacobite Rising. The oratorio's most famous chorus is 'See, the conquering hero comes.' In this new A-B-A arrangement, for orchestra alone, the familiar tune is scored at the beginning and the end of the work using the March from the same oratorio as the 'B' section. This is another excellent opportunity to perform this audience favorite, but without the need for a choir. | 2, 2, 2, 2 - 2, 2, 0, 0, timp, perc, str | |

| 15173 | DF04BA91-F273-4D3C-A301-20CE4A3AEB8D | B354602 | Snow Maiden, The: Cortege and Fanfare | Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844-1908) has employed the lovely fable by Ostrovsky, which is set in a legendary country in pagan times, to weave a fantasy of great charm. The Snow Maiden asks her parents, King Winter and the Spring Fairy, to allow her to join the world of humans at the Royal Court of Berendey. Her desire to possess human emotions ultimately leads her to be melted by Yarilo, the Sun-God. The opulence of the Berendey Court is typified by ths stirring CORTÈGE AND FANFARE wherein the Czar is ushered in first by a broad, oriental theme that gives way to a flourish of the court trumpets. He is then greeted affectionately by his loyal subjects in a typically Russian choral theme. This version for band has been arranged by John Cacavas and adapted by Ralph Satz. | Concert Band | |
