| 13242 | C1A6224F-F86A-4F3F-BF19-C290533E9E72 | A696102 | Scherzo Capriccioso, Op. 66/B. 131 (critical ed.) | Composed by Antonín Dvo?ák (1841-1904) in the spring of 1883, SCHERZO CAPRICCIOSO IN D-FLAT MAJOR, Op. 66/B. 131 is a favorite of the concert hall not only for its colorful humor but also for its restlessness. It is sometimes conjectured that the dramatic contrasts in the work were influenced by the recent death of his mother. The first performance took place at the National Theatre in Prague on May 16, 1883, Adolf ?ech conducting. It quickly proved popular with critics and audiences. Instrumentation: 2+Picc.2+EH.2+BCl.2: 4.2.3.1: Timp.Perc(2-3): Hp: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set). | 13245 | C1AA3E4D-B5C2-42F2-9AD0-3A8A2D7A1707 | S007701 | Gloria in D, Op. 103 No. 3/ RV 589 | The most famous of several Vivaldi works entitled Gloria (RV 589), this edition by Clayton Westermann includes a short preface to explain performance practice. Of the three recorded Glorias Vivaldi wrote, only two survive (RV 588 and RV 589), while RV 590 is presumably lost. Although they are now often performed at sacred events including Christmas, the Glorias remained in relative obscurity until a revival performance by Alfredo Casella during “Vivaldi Week” in Siena in 1939. Instrumentation: 0.1.0.0: 0.1.0.0: Str (2-2-2-1-1 in set): Org(Hpchd): Soli SA: SATB Chor. Includes: Gloria in Excelsis, Et in Terra Pax, Laudamus Te, Gratias Agimus Tibi, Propter Magnam Gloriam, Domine Deus, Domine Fili Unigenite, Domine Deus, Agnus Dei, Qui Tollis, Qui Sedes ad Dexteram, Quoniam tu Solus Sanctus, and Cum Sancto Spiritu. The final movement, Cum Sancto Spiritu is Vivaldi's updated arrangement of Ruggieri's Gloria of 1708. Kalmus Classic Edition vocal soli parts and choral scores are available separately through Alfred Music K06497. One of the 'March King's' finest efforts, it contains the traditional 'trumpet and drum' writing associated with the regimental march style. | 13247 | C1AECE1F-F780-4C3B-9E76-6CAF72BF7A6B | A269702 | Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, K. 339 | The final work composed by Mozart for the Salzburg Cathedral, the original title of this sacred choral composition, VESPERAE SOLENNES DE CONFESSORE (Solemn Vespers for a Confessor) did not include "de confessore," which was added later by another hand to Mozart's manuscript, suggesting that the work was intended for vespers held on a specific day of the liturgical calendar of saints ("confessors"), though the saint has never been established. Structurally, the work is very similar to VESPERAE SOLENNES DE DOMINICA (K.321), that Mozart composed the year prior in 1779. Movements: 1. Dixit Dominus, 2. Confitebor, 3. Beatus Vir, 4. Laudate Pueri, 5. Laudate Dominum, 6. Magnificat. Instrumentation: 0.0.0.1: 0.2.3.0: Timp: Org: Str (4.4.0.3.3): Solo SATB.Mix Chor. Reprint edition. Horner was responsible for an entire school of horn playing that dominated symphony orchestras for much of the 20th century. It is expected that these studies will fill a need often neglected in the playing of many hornists. These etudes are the only ones known to have been composed by Horner. | Horn | |

| 13255 | C1CA6688-B6B9-483E-86DB-B0B0F3546EDA | A147102 | Scenes de Ballet, Op. 52; No. 5: Pas d'Action | Russian composer Aleksandr Glazunov (1865-1936) had a particular love for ballet, and that love for the genre drove him to compose the eight-dance suite SCÈNES DE BALLET, Op. 52 in 1894. The work was written without choreography or even a story, so it remained an imaginary ballet of sorts, with delightful melodies suggesting a story that we do not have. The complete suite was premiered in St. Petersburg by the Imperial Music Society in 1895, conducted by Glazunov. The fifth dance of the suite, PAS D'ACTION, suggests that a dramatic moment had just taken place in the imaginary plot. | 13260 | C1DA1EE6-1EBC-474E-BEB8-67920260519C | 52784001 | Divertimento | Anna Amalia of Prussia held various titles during her lifetime, including Princess and Abbess of Quedlinburg. Born in Berlin, she was one of ten surviving children of the royal family of King Frederick William I of Prussia. Princess Anna Amalia studied harpsichord, piano and counterpoint. Princess Anna also founded a music library collection, which included autographed scores of J.S. Bach and other composers. This collection still exists today (Amalien Bibliothek). This two-movement Divertimento in Bb Major has something for everyone. The melodic and secondary parts are passed equally between the instruments. The piano part is quite playable for a high school student. It has the character of a conversation between friends gathering for a friendly afternoon tea. This arrangement is scored for piano quartet, with a substitue clarinet part in place of violin. | Clarinet or Violin, Viola, Cello and Piano |
