8640BC19C2A-E7BC-4724-9A59-3A216C0CF7CFA189902Concerto for Piano No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30Composed in the summer of 1909, Sergei Rachmaninoff's (1873-1943) CONCERTO FOR PIANO No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30, was premiered that year with the composer as soloist, though he was forced to practice the work on a silent keyboard he brought with him for the journey to the United States. The first performance took place with the New York Symphony Society under Walter Damrosch on November 28, 1909, though a second performance took place only a few months later with the New York Philharmonic, Gustav Mahler conducting, an experience the composer treasured. Rachmaninoff considered this piano concerto his favorite of those he wrote. Dedicated to Josef Hofmann, who the composer considered the greatest pianist of the time, this work has a reputation of being one of the most technically challenging piano concertos in the standard piano repertoire. 8790C0BE476-4F24-47B6-A9DD-1B3AE55475DEM127291Bagatelles, Op. 47/B. 79 (critical edition)Originally titled Mali?kosti (Bagatelles), Mali?kosti translating as "Trifles" in Czech, this cycle of five short pieces for two violins, violoncello and harmonium (or piano) was composed 1878 to add to the "home music" repertoire, music on a small scale and that is not too technically difficult. While the themes are less complicated, with fewer demands on the players, Antonín Dvo?ák (1841-1904) clearly brought the full force of his musicianship to bear on their composition, saying to his publisher while writing them, "I am now writing some small bagatelles for two violins and viola – just imagine! This work gives me as much pleasure as if I were composing a great symphony..."2 Violins, Violoncello, Harmonium or Piano

The lyric melodies and flowing lines portray the slow and graceful harvest dance, reflecting the reverence the tribe had for the sacred land they lived on. The quiet and peaceful atmosphere creates a spectral vision of a moonlit landscape long ago. 2+Picc.2.2.2: 4.3.3.1: Timp.Perc(7): Str (9.8.7.6.5)2+Picc.2.2.2: 4.3.3.1: Timp.Perc(7): Str (9.8.7.6.5)
