| 7063 | 67D7054B-F73A-4F49-AAB7-F998E511798E | 10732248 | Divertimento No. 70 | A three movement Haydn chamber work for your trio! Also known as "Barytontrio No. 70" in some editions, this work originally written for baryton, viola and violoncello is one of about 175 compositions written for the baryton (a stringed instrument similar to the viola da gamba) by Haydn between 1762 and 1775. Given that the blend of the three similar instruments makes it difficult to distinguish the sound of the individual instruments, arrangements for euphonium, trombone, bassoon, and cello trios, all available from the publisher, presents no major alteration to the original version. | Violoncello trio | |

Soaring melodic lines over romantic-style harmonies will bring your strings and your audience to new heights. The work employs four distinct thematic elements. Expressive playing is required throughout. Ballade is written for advancing ensembles, with expanded use of rhythms, ranges and keys, but technical demands are still carefully considered. Viola T.C. and optional piano reduction are included. | String Orchestra

These old-fashioned poems were written in the 1850s by Heinrich Hoffmann as Christmas gifts for his children and many young nieces and nephews. Schelle dedicated the songs to his parents for their 50th Anniversary, concluding his program notes for the premiere with a wry explanation for the inspiration behind the piece: "(my parents) often read these poems to me in my childhood and, in doing so, may have helped to keep me from being one of the rapscallions included in any new, revised, updated collection...maybe." Poem titles: I. Slovenly Peter, II. The Story of Flying Robert, III. Cry Baby, IV. Fat Augustus Who Wouldn't Eat Any Soup, V. The Inky Boys, VI. Cruel Frederick, VII. Little Conrad Suck-a-Thumb. Versions for voice and piano and voice and chamber ensemble are available from the publisher. | High Voice, Flute , Bb Clarinet, Tenor Sax, Bass Trombone, 2 Percussion, Piano, Violin, ContrarBass

| 7079 | 680D5114-B4FB-4FD0-97A6-099D982AD1DA | MP800011 | Canciones de Lorca for Tenor and Orchestra | "Bolcom is a famously eclectic stylist. The poems here are sung in Spanish and the musical accompaniment is recognizably Spanish-tinged in rhythm and color (including castanets and the like). But the composer goes much deeper that that; 'Canciones' is no picture postcard. He delves into the dark, mysterious and surrealistic core of the poetry and returns us its sinews and subtexts in a varietal, mercurial music that touches upon Puccini, Mahler, jazz, Cuban dance, atonal acerbity and tonal bliss. In the process, he doesn’t exactly explain the sometimes difficult poetry, but he does bring it to life." Timothy Mangan, Orange County Register, Oct. 26, 2013. With text by poet Federico Garcia Lorca, this composition was premiered by Placido Domingo and the Pacific Symphony Orchestra under Carl St. Clarin on September 15, 2006. Recorded on Naxos 8.559788 by the Pacific Symphony, Carl St. Clair, conductor and René Barbera, Tenor | Tenor Solo and Piano | |
| 7080 | 680E43C0-BA10-4509-ABD4-9854837B2052 | A687002 | Fruehlingsrauschen, Op. 32/3 (Rustle of Spring) | Christian Sinding (1856-1941) was a Norwegian composer considered to be the successor to Edvard Grieg, although more in international standing than style as Sinding found his musical influences in Wagner and Liszt rather than in his fellow countryman. As his publisher required piano and chamber music from the composer, he became very well-known for music of that sort, of which he wrote many. The most famous of his works was a short piano piece called Frühlingsrauschen (Rustle of Spring), which he wrote in 1896 as the third selection in his collection 6 Stücke, Op. 32. This arrangement for a small theater orchestra of that piece was completed by Theodore Moses Tobani in 1908. | 1.2.2.2: 2.2.1.0: Timp: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set) |
