7982752033EB-F67F-4A66-B984-07C992963D8BX814034Two Vergil SongsTwo Vergil Songs (2000) is a set of two settings of two poems by the Ancient Roman poet Publius Vergilius Maro (70–19 BC). The work is dedicated to Ray Perez. The poems are set in their original classical Latin, and a classical Latin pronunciation (not church Latin) should be used when performing the work. The text is used verbatim although elisions are not used in the musical setting. Both texts are taken from Vergil's Priapae, a hymn to the god Priapus— set from the god's perspective. The first song, Vere rosa, displays the spare bleakness of winter as Priapus laments what might happen to his statue in the cold of winter. The second song, Ego haec, is full of the jubilant bustle of spring and the travel and celebrations it brings.Voice, Piano

Soaring melodies cascade throughout the ensemble with rhythmic accompaniments. Because all six waltzes are moderately difficult (grade 4 and above), sight reading at the job is not recommended. Flute may be substituted for Violin 1, and Violin 2 may be substituted for Viola. Waltz titles: 1. The Tangled Waltz; 2. Second Anniversary Waltz; 3. A Miller's Waltz; 4. Age and Remembrance; 5. Gypsy Waltz; 6. County Clare Waltz.Violin 1 or Flute , Viola or alt. Violin 2 and Cello

Decca then issued the track on 45 in the U.S. which enjoyed a moderate success. Anderson later recorded stereo version of Forgotten Dreams in 1959. The composition features a haunting, romantic melody and its performance is within the reach of most late-intermediate pianists. Written in D major, it contains expressive tempo variations, an animated B section, and arpeggiated chords which require a bit of stretching.
