| 7953 | 74C2CB01-F79F-43CB-BC34-B0A6BA24D8BA | A569302 | Nocturne for Wind Instruments and Percussion, Op. 34 | Louis Spohr (1784-1859) wrote NOCTURNE for Wind Instruments (NOTTURNO), Op. 34, in 1815. While the restful quality associated today with such "night pieces" did not really become standard until the publication of the nocturnes for piano by John Field, the instrumentation in Spohr's work was also a departure from the lighter ensembles that Mozart used in his serenades and divertimenti. Employing piccolos, trumpets, bass trombone, bass horn, posthorn, and percussion, this nocturne took on the rather noisy characteristics of the Turkish band music, which was so popular in Vienna at the time. Among those more brash sections, however, are interspersed quieter, slower movements, with movement 3 (Andante con Variozioni) serving as a centerpiece of the work. NOCTURNE likely premiered in 1816 in Schwarzburg-Sondershausen. Movements: I. Marcia; II. Menuetto; III. Andante con Variazioni; IV. Polacca; V. Adagio; VI. Finale. Instrumentation: 2Picc(1st dFl).2.2.2+CBsn: 2+Posthn in F.2.1.1: Perc(3). | 2Picc(1st dFl).2.2.2+CBsn: 2+Posthn in F.2.1.1: Perc(3) | |

Boyd's setting is not a simple rehashing of the famous Ravel orchestration, as Boyd remains more faithful to the bold musical language of Mussorgsky's original composition. This exciting work fits the bill for better high school and college bands, yet is substantial enough to meet the needs of professional organizations as well. The work is available in its entirety with all seven sections and the score included at a value-minded price, or each of the individual sections may be ordered individually as a set of parts only and the complete score (10105314) may be purchased separately should only certain sections be of interest. The sections include: Part 1: Promenade; Gnomus-Gnomus. Part 2: Promenade; Il Vecchio Castello.Part 3: Promenade; Tuileries; Bydlo. Part 4: Promenade; Ballet Of The Chicks In Their Shells; Two Jews, One Rich, The Other Poor; Promenade. Part 5: Limoges-The Market Place; Catacombae; Cum Mortuis In Lingua Mortua. Part 6: The Hut On Fowl's Legs. Part 7: The Great Gate Of Kiev. | Concert Band | |

| 7958 | 74CE15E6-60CE-4EC3-9101-3903C10A1011 | SO303C | Christmas Sing Along | Because of today's growing need for flexible scoring, the part distribution for the new edition of "Christmas Sing-along" has been carefully arranged to accommodate most ensemble groups, from solos with piano accompaniment, to band, string or full orchestra, with audience sing-along. A melody sheet (or Part A) is included in concert pitch and each transposed key for Treble, alto, and bass clef instruments. An optional 5th part (part C) has been added in alto range to expand the basic SATB score for a richer sonority and provide a 5th part for quintets. Songs included: 1. Joy to the World, 2. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, 3. O Little Town of Bethlehem, 4. It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, 5. Silent Night, 6. The First Noel, 7. Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly, 8. O Come All Ye Faithful.
