Aside from being invaluable to the development of technique, the variations which include piano accompaniment also serve as rich and rewarding solo material for recitals. This edition by Heifetz protege, Endre Granat, is based on comparison of the first three published editions and features meticulous attention to the details of bowing and fingering. Included in the publication is a letter from Tartini to his then 14 year old violin student, Maddalena Lombardini, detailing an important lesson to violin performers on not only bowing, but also fingerboard technique. | Violin, Piano | |

| 2112 | 1DBD87DE-E4E1-4DF3-9277-7151EAAE1F3E | A512402 | Nabucco, Part III: Va pensiero (Chorus of the Enslaved Jews) (excerpt) | NABUCCO is the four-act Italian-language opera by Giuseppe Verdi that permanently established Verdi's reputation as a composer. The opera, borrowed from the Bible, follows the plight of the Jews as they are violently conquered and exiled from the their homeland by the Babylonian king Nabucco, This story serves as a backdrop for the main romantic and political plot of the story. The work best known from the opera is the "Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves," or "Va, pensiero, sull'ali dorate" / "Fly, thought, on golden wings," a chorus that frequently receives encores in contemporary performances. Sung at the end of the Act 3, the text of the chorus presents the Israelites as longing for their homeland after they've all been sentenced to execution. This choral score can be used with the Kalmus set of orchestra parts available from the publisher but also with the piano reduction included. | Chorus (SATB): Keyboard or Orchestra accompaniment | |
| 2113 | 1DC50A6B-FDAF-4DFF-B8E9-A5A8A42A05FB | A473502 | Mefistofele, IAB 1: Prologue in Heaven (complete) | After the completion of his studies at the Milan Conservatory, Arrigo Boito (1842-1918) decided to compose his own operatic version of Goethe’s Faust. Perceiving what he saw to be artistic shortcomings in the Gounod opera, he wrote his own libretto after the manner of Richard Wagner. Inexperienced as a conductor, he took the podium for the premiere of MEFISTOFELE in Milan on March 5, 1868. The performance of the work with its daring chromaticism and sprawling length, over five hours long, was met with confusion and outrage. After only two performances, Boito withdrew to revise the work, drastically cutting it to two-thirds of its original length. The first performance of the revised version in Bologna in 1875 achieved for its composer a much belated success. Some small changes led to a final version which premiered in 1881. During the PROLOGUE IN HEAVEN, Mefistofele declares his intention to take Faust’s soul. His challenge is accepted by the angels. Vocal score. | Mix Chorus: Children Chorus: Piano accomp. | |
