Mostly in tenor clef, it highlights the most singing register of the cello, with ample opportunities to show off the depth and breadth of your own personal sound. The harmonic progressions are delightful and add to the subtle colors of the melodic phrases.Cello, Piano
20421CFDC5F4-7509-47D4-A012-CBB75DD7CF16A428702Szenen aus Goethes Faust (Scenes from Goethe's Faust)Written by Robert Schumann (1810-1856) between 1844 and 1853, Szenen aus Goethes Faust (Scenes from Goethe's Faust) is a three-part work for vocal soloists, chorus, and orchestra in the style of an oratorio. Following the overture, Schumann depicts various scenes from Goethe's dramatic poem in an effort to depict the philosophical questions posed by Goethe's magnum opus, combining elements of lied, opera, and oratorio in this exploration of the struggle between good and evil. It premiered in Cologne on January 13th, 1862. Considered one of Schumann's most moving works, and perhaps his own magnum opus, Szenen aus Goethes Faust has seen a resurgence of interest since the 1970s. This suite is in five movements, each one describing a different aspect of "The Greatest Show on Earth". The first movement is a spirited and cheerful "March". In movement 2, "Lions and Tigers", one hears the big cats slinking, roaring and pouncing to the cracks of the whip. The great, majestic "Elephants" come next, making their stately progress across the arena, followed by the airy grace and sinuous beauty of "The Flying Trapeze". "Clowns", everyone's favorites, bring the suite to a whimsical, puckish conclusion. This piece is part of "The Complete Hornist" series, edited by Thomas Bacon.Horn and Piano

During his tenure at the Munich Conservatory, he trained such pupils as Engelbert Humperdinck, Richard Strauss, and Wilhelm Furtwängler. Composed in 1890, the nine-movement cantata, DER STERN VON BETHLEHEM (THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM), OP. 164, become one of his most frequently-performed works during his lifetime. It premiered at the Kreuzkirche in Dresden on Christmas Eve, 1892. Reprint edition.Soli STBBar: Mx Chor: Keyboard accompaniment

He first wrote the concert overture in E Major, Op. 21 in 1826 at the age of seventeen for no other reason than the love that he and his siblings had for Shakespeare’s stage works. He wrote the incidental music, Op. 61 (likely the best-known incidental music in the repertoire) in 1842 as a commission from King Frederick William IV of Prussia. In creating the complete later version, the composer incorporated the original overture, Op. 21 as the overture for the incidental music and the first of the 14 numbers. Starting with what must be four of the most evocative and memorable chords in music, the work also is the origin of the Wedding March (No. 9) used in so many ceremonies today, commonly referred to as "Here Comes the Bride." The work was premiered in Potsdam, Germany on October 14, 1843 by the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, conducted by the composer. Introducing his subject with an overture in the French style, he depicts seven different episodes from the novel by Miguel de Cervantes. The work also serves a practical purpose as a Baroque dance suite. Specific references to the humorous events of the story foreshadow the episodic tone poem that Richard Strauss would later write for cello and orchestra. Movements: 1. Overture; 2. Awakening of Don Quixote; 3. His Attack on the Windmills; 4. Sighs of Love for Princess Aline; 5. Sancho Pansa Swindled; 6. Rosinante Galloping; 7. The Gallop of Sancho Pansa's Mule; 8. 20571d30a84d-9e3b-11f0-a418-0022482c9682M305991Joy to the World [orchestration for low voice, B-flat]JOY TO THE WORLD is the most-published Christmas carol in North America, despite the work not being written for Christmas. The text was written by English minister and hymnist Isaac Watts in 1719. The melody to which the text is set is by American composer Lowell Mason (1792-1872), who saw it published in The Modern Psalmist in 1839, but it seems likely that much of the melodic material was borrowed from G.F. Handel's MESSIAH, but there is still much speculation about the extent. This beloved Christmas carol has been orchestrated and arranged for low voice and orchestra (key of B-flat) by Steven Rosenhaus. The score/parts (A836190) and vocal score (M305991) are available separately. A version for high voice and orchestra (A836290/M306091) in the key of D is also available from the publisher.Low Voice and Piano
