12422B5AF3516-D7EB-4B01-9371-3B950307C6A8A885402Ouvre Ton Coeur (B Minor)Ouvre ton cœur (Open your heart) dates from 1859, as George Bizet (1838-1875) was still attending the Paris Conservatory. Its Spanish flair anticipates the musical style he would later put to use in the opera Carmen. A bolero rhythm drives the passionate energy of the poem by Louis Delâtre, in which the singer implores their beloved to return their love "as a flower turns to the sun". The song demonstrates Bizet's early mastery of the harmonic color, delicate phrasing, and melodic invention for which he is so greatly admired today. Versions in the original key of A minor, and also transposed to G minor and B minor are also available from the publisher. 12423B5B2ACB2-5366-427B-89E3-1AE11C8B8F7AEBM0620000Hymn for Our Times, ACommissioned by the Bartholomew Consolidated School Foundation, Inc. with the support of the Edgar B. Redman Memorial Fund for the School Band Festival, May 11, 1968, Columbus, Indiana, the notion was to create a single work made up of the total band enrollment in the school system ranging from elementary to the most advanced. The piece underlines how in successive stages the student musicians progress from simple to complex technical and conceptual competence. The work is based on the traditional Welsh tune, "Ton Y Botel" - better known as the hymn "Once to every man and nation." Each band plays the hymn successively, with connecting materials performed by the other available bands after each of the hymn sections, with the final playing of the hymn open for singing by the audience. The work does require the inclusion of all of the bands(Elementary/Beginner, Intermediate, Junior High School, High School Concert, and High School Symphonic) for it to work, so parts for performance are available via rental only. Individual scores for each band are included in the rental set only and the master score for the entire ensemble is available for retail.Three Bands, or one band divided into three groups

12431B5C4B39B-2540-4FA3-8367-A15D588C5142SO173CSong of the Birds: Catalan Christmas CarolThe Song of the Birds (El cant dels ocells) is a traditional Catalan Christmas Carol. It was made famous by Pau (Pablo) Casals, who is considered one of the greatest cellists of all time. He was famous the world over and played for such notables as Queen Victoria, Theodore Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy. After Casals’ self-exile from Spain in 1939, he would open each concert with the playing of The Song of the Birds. In time, this song became an important symbol of his native Catalonia. The Song of the Birds has multiple stanzas each in the "voice" of a different type of bird expressing joy in the birth of Jesus Christ. Robert Longfield expresses this beautiful Christmas carol in legato singing lines using 2-3 part writing at a Level 2.5. In recognition and honor of Pau Casals, the opening melody of Robert Longfield’s arrangement is played by the cello section.String Orchestra

12433B5CB4E82-983C-4BFF-B045-381A07B1F6AC20732102Rule BritanniaBritannia was a name given to the British Isles by the Romans during their occupation in the 1st century AD. This familiar song was composed during the 18th century telling of national pride largely due to its invincible navy. The song should be played in a martial manner with strong bow strokes to capture this spirit. The first part requires some facility in higher positions, and knowledge of positions is advisable in the other two parts as well. The key is G major and the duration is just over 2 minutes.Viloncelo 1,2 and 3
12434B5CD5358-9413-4709-8F00-12DFEF2FC3D0A105202Eine kleine Nachtmusik (Serenade in G), K. 525EINE KLEINE NACHTMUSIK (A Little Night Music, Serenade No. 13 in G Major) was written in 1787 for string quintet, although it is frequently performed as a string orchestra work. Possibly composed originally with five movements (the Menuetto and Trio appears to be lost), the special title "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" was likely not given to the work by W.A. Mozart (1756-1791) as it derived from an entry in his personal catalog, almost certainly acting as a mere record of his having completed a little serenade. The work was not published until 1827 along with a bundle of Mozart's other works sold by his widow Constanze, and no record exists of a commission or performance in Mozart's lifetime that might clear up the intent for the title. Still, the serenade remains among Mozart's most popular and recognizable works. Movements: I. Allegro, II. Romanze, III. Menuetto, and IV. Rondo. Strings in set: 4-4-3-3-3.String Orchestra (4-4-3-3-3 in set)
