Each selection was composed according to the criteria designed by Texas choral directors and commissioned by the Texas University Interscholastic League for use in its annual sight singing contest. These graded materials were created specifically for young musicians by recognized composers and comprise a valuable resource as they contain many of the problems encountered in sight singing. This collection can be used effectively as a supplement to the daily instructional sight singing program after an approved system (movable “do”, fixed “do” or numbers) and a rhythm system are established within the choral curriculum. | SSA

While for many the years, Variations on a Rococo Theme was only known in a version heavily edited by Wilhelm Fitzenhagen, to whom the work was dedicated, this piano reduction by Paul Tobias is reconstructed using the original version. | Violoncello and Piano

This form owes a great deal to Pictures at an Exhibition and Bluebeard's Castle -- Mussorgsky's promenades and Bartok's keys become Brass Gates which open to display fantasy worlds, the variegated domains ruled by the solo violin. | Violin, Piano ReductionReduction from:2+Piccolo.2.3+E-flat Clarinet+Bass Clarinet+ContraBass Clarinet.2. | 12239 | B2FB8ABC-078F-47C6-B84D-4B0D6AB98255 | W110291 | L'amico Fritz: Opera in Three Acts | Italian composer Pietro Mascagni (1863-1945) wrote L'amico Fritz in 1891 only one year after his masterpiece Cavalleria rusticana began the Versimo movement. A charming light opera in three acts, L'amico Fritz relates the story of wealthy landowner Fritz Kobus' slow transition from disdain for marriage to the realization that he loves and wishes to marry Suzel, the daughter of one of his tenants. The change that overcomes Fritz is aided by his friend David, the local rabbi, with whom Fritz has bet one of his vineyards that he will never marry. The opera premiered on October 31, 1891, at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome, Rodolfo Ferrari conducting. While the opera is not staged as often as Cavalleria rusticana, it still finds itself on the edge of opera repertoire. The Cherry Duet in Act 2 between Fritz and Suzel is better known and often performed in concert settings. Reprint edition. Vocal score. | Vocal Soli (7 roles SSATTBB): Chorus: Keyboard or Orchestra accompaniment
