| Long Bio | L?rinc Kesztler (January 14, 1892 – February 27, 1978) was a Hungarian composer and educator. He studied at Zeneak. in Bp. with Viktor Herzfeld and then with Zoltán Kodály. From 1921 he taught music theory and harmony at the National Music School, between 1949 and 1962 at the Béla Bartók School of Music, and until 1973 at the Szakisk of Music. His book Harmony, written in 1928, went through many editions, and his book Basic Knowledge of Music for School and Private Use, published in 1959, became popular. In 1938 his work entitled Festive Overture won a prize at the competition of the Year of Saint Stephen. He transcribed several chamber works for wind quintet, as well as Mozart's Four-Hand Sonata in D major into a Symphony (1958); The latter was published primarily for pedagogical purposes. – Irod.
