Short BioDANIEL PAGET is a conductor, composer-arranger, pianist and educator living in New York City. His long teaching career has included posts at Columbia University, the Manhattan School of Music, and John Hay College of the City University of New York. He founded Columbia University’s Barnard-Columbia Chorus, as well as the Apollo Chamber Orchestra, and led the Paget Chorale in performances at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and elsewhere. Mr. Paget was also music director of the Westchester Chorale. A specialist in ragtime music, he has performed as conductor and pianist across the country and in the Far East. His many works include Two Sentimental Rags (written for Carol Wincenc), A Treemonisha Sampler (concert band arrangement of music from Scott Joplin’s opera), One Hundred Roses, (commissioned and recorded by flutist Paula Robison), and Romania! Fantasy for Flute and Piano, commissioned by Carol Wincenc for her Naumburg Award Recital at New York’s Lincoln Center. Mr. Paget has been described by The New York Times as “a stimulating interpreter whose energy and enthusiasm are thoroughly infectious.”
