| Marketing Copy | Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's (1756-1791) dramatic and moving concert recitative and aria MISERO! O SOGNO...AURA, CHE INTORNO SPIRI was written in December of 1783. While it has been thought that the Italian text, seemingly taken from a complete opera libretto, was written by Caterino MazzolĂ , most now consider the author to just be unknown. Much like a similar situation from Beethoven's later opera, FIDELIO, the tenor character in Mozart's aria finds himself in prison at night. In the recitative, after begging his captors (seemingly all women) to release him, he resigns himself to death, his only wish to see his beloved again one last time. In the aria that follows, he begs the breeze ("aura, che intorno spiri, sull'ali a lei che adoro") to carry his sighs to this woman. Instrumentation: 2.0.0.2: 2.0.0.0: Str (4.4.3.3.3 in set): Solo Tenor. Reprint edition. |
