| Program Notes | Blues is Baker's adaptation of a choral movement, "Deliver My Soul," from a modern-jazz oratorio he wrote in 1966. The composer describes it as "stylistically a marriage of the blues and gospel music," and its rhapsodic quasi-improvisational freedom that recalls jazz violinists such as Joe Venuti and Stephane Grappelli.
