Program NotesFantasia Concertante for Alto Saxophone, Winds, and Percussion was commissioned by the National Association of College Wind & Percussion Instructors. The work was composed during the summer of 1987 and was written for Dr. Eugene Rousseau, the internationally acclaimed saxophone virtuoso and teacher. The work is one movement, divided into distinct contrasting sections of tempo and style. The versatility and expressive qualities of the instrument are fully realized in this outstanding composition.
