Marketing CopyCONCERTPIECE (KONZERTSTÜCK) IN F MAJOR, Op. 86 is a piece for four horns and orchestra by Robert Schumann (1810-1856). He composed it in 1849, while living in Dresden, after hearing Joseph-Rudolph Lewy perform on the valve horn which had recently been developed. Acknowledging the unusual instrumentation, the composer described it to his friend Hiller as "one of my best pieces." The first performance took place on February 25, 1850 with the horn players of the Leipzig Gewandhaus under the direction of Julius Rietz.
