| Program Notes | Two Seasonal Sketches, Set II (2001) for clarinet and piano consists of two contrasting movements. The work was commissioned by the Broeker Fund for New Music. It was written for and is dedicated to Robert Blake. "Winter Aubade" presents a portrait of the beauty of a winter sunrise over a pristine and snow-covered landscape. "Spring Serenade" is lively and excited, with a sense of renewal and rebirth. They may be played together as a set or individually as concert music or encore pieces. Also available is Two Seasonal Sketches, Set I (2000) [MMB Music, Inc.; Stock Number #X131013] which consists of "Autumn Song" and "Summer Dance." All four pieces may be played as a unit. The recommended order is "Summer Dance," "Autumn Song," "Winter Aubade," and "Spring Serenade." --Carson Cooman |
