| Program Notes | For the last few years, most of my projects have been about the Anne Frank Diary and the Holocaust. About a year ago, some friends of mine were about to leave on a concert tour of Japan and asked me to write a composition for their trio. They thought it would be a good idea for me to write a lighter piece for a change, and something with an American flavor. I accepted the assignment and wrote Monday Morning. Though not a literal piece of program music, I tried to capture the excitement and almost frantic quality of the new week and the commuter off to work. The slow middle section could be a coffee break or a wait in traffic. Soon the opening section returns, so back to work and the traffic moves on. --Michael Cohen |
