Title NameViolin Concerto No. 1 in A minor for Violin and Piano, BWV 1041
Marketing CopyWhile the original manuscript by the composer is lost, it is assumed that the Violin Concerto in A minor was composed between the years 1717-1723 in Köthen. The earliest available source is a copyist manuscript from 1730. The concerto is originally scored for solo violin, strings and continuo. Unlike many works by Bach, this concerto never disappeared from the repertoire nor lost any of its popularity. It was frequently performed in Germany in the 18th century, but it was not printed until 1852 and continues to be in the repertory of most violinists from students to great concert artists. This unique edition includes concise fingerings and bowings by Jascha Heifetz’ protégé, Endre Granat.
