Marketing CopyLouis Couperin (c.1626-1661), a leading founder of the French school of harpsichord composers, also brought innovations to organ composition and performance. He served as organist of St. Gervais from 1653 to his death in 1661. Due to a short career, none of his music saw publication during his lifetime. In 1957, organologist Guy Oldham found a manuscript in a London bookshop which included 70 organ pieces by Couperin, composed between 1650 and 1659, kindling a rediscovery of his contributions to the repertoire. This Kalmus edition, edited by Norbert Dufourcq and Noelie Pierront for its original 1957 publication, includes some transcriptions of his harpsichord works: 1. Allemande 2. Sarabande in C major 3. Sarabande in C minor 4. Sarabande en Canon in D minor 5. Sarabande in D minor 6. Sarabande in F major 7. Chacone in C major 8. Chacone in D minor 9. Chacone in C minor 10. Chacone in F major 11. Chacone (1658) 12. Chacone ou Passacaille in G minor 13. Passacaille in G minor 14. La Pastourelle in D minor 15. Fantasie 16. Duo 17. Branle de Basque in F major 18.
