Marketing CopyCommissioned and recorded by An die Musik with Dr Ruth Westheimer. A fun, witty and surprising modern version of the story for narrator, violin, viola, oboe (sub. clarinet), and piano.
InstrumentationNarrator, Oboe (sub. Clarinet), Violin, Viola, Cello, Piano
CommissionCommissioned for Dr. Ruth Westheimer by An die Musik.
Dedication(not set)
Program NotesThe text is based closely on the original story, but with additions reflecting current musicology and recent scientific information dug up by the composer. The story has a comic new ending involving the well-known Heimlich Maneuver. While not written for kids, this piece can work for all audiences, adults only, kids only, or all together. The wolf is portrayed by the cello, grandma's theme is played by the viola; Red Riding Hood's theme is shared by violin and oboe; the woodsman needs the whole ensemble for his mighty entrance. --Bruce Adolphe
