Title NamePrelude: a Dream I've Had
Marketing CopyThe Prelude is based on traditional Jewish folk songs and original motifs. The introduction is a haunting horn solo, followed by a trumpet with bold chords in the accompaniment, then a development period with a new, livelier theme before it ends with a series of resolved dissonances dying away. It was inspired by the poem "A Dream I've Had…" by Cay Smith-Osmon. It was written for and first performed on August 1. 1982 at the composer's wedding, and dedicated to the composer's wife-to-be, Cay.
